US citizen

April 15, 2013

Today is the day!!!! We have our appt at the US Consulate office @ 8:30. We rode in a van with the Doerr family, who also had their appt at the same time. We got into a large building. We were not allowed to take cell phones or cameras through security. Its alot like the DMV..windows and a waiting room. We got to meet alot of other adoptive families and beautiful children. Kyle even got down and played with them. Normally in crowds he latches on and has to be held if he is not in the stroller. We all had to take an oath for him. To be honest..I have no clue what we even said, I was in awe that this was our last step!! Then each family got called up with all of their paperwork and they asked you a couple of questions and you were done! It's offical..Kyle Bradlee Allen is a US citizen as soon as he steps foot on American soil!!

The US Citizen's! Kyle & Madi

Once the Doerr's got finished we were back to the van and off to Shamian Island. The island use to be where all adoption physical and consulate (from my understanding) was held. It is lovely there and away from all the normal traffic. Alot of beauty and it is so peaceful. It is a very popular place for photographers. We saw quite a few bride & grooms there, along with other models have shoots. There was cheap shopping too!!! We picked up some North face jackets and Kyle got a bookbag.. We had a fun day making great memories. The new US citizens enjoyed a snack break while the momma's were shopping. They enjoyed the all american "Rice Krispy Treat" LOL.

Friend's enjoying snacks!

Zoo

April 14, 2013

Today a big group of families went to visit the Safari Park. We all rode together on a van and got to see more of the town. It sure is a big place with alot of people. When we arrived at the park we did the safari train first. A mercedes train at that!!! There was every animal that you can imagine here! we even got to see them feed the hippos, tigers and lions. (not a pretty site, but at least the WHOLE with feathers chicken was dead) Kyle was entertained through it all. I must brag on him a moment. We were 30 min from the end of the ride and he had to go to the bathroom. Even though he is from China he is very proper when it comes to his bathroom habits! (most kids pee outside if you are out and about) Our guide told try to give him a bottle to use. Well he would have no part of that! He held it to the end of the ride, unloading and then finding a bathroom. Once we got to the bathroom he then would not use the quatty potty, he had to have a western one LOL. He has a bladder of steel I tell you! It was a fun day with alot of memories. Kris got to feed a tiger and giraffe. I think Kyle was most impressed with the miniture ponies. Todd was not so happy about the outting when I first told him, but after we went he said he really enjoyed it. Needless to say, almost every child was asleep on the way back to the hotel.
